Which to buy?

Both are nice tools, but the step up between the AD800BT 2 from the 600S is a bit more than trivial. In fact, I also own a Phoenix Plus 2, and I feel the 800BT 2 plays more like a Phoenix level tool than the ArtiDiag line. The biggy is the 800BT 2 has bi-directional control. Even as a DIYer, as I am, having bi-directional control is worth it in my opinion. It really comes in handy when troubleshooting. Another significant difference, the 800BT 2 scans all modules/systems, whereas the 600S is limited (4 systems only). Then there are rests/functions. There are 9 on the 600S and nearly 30 on the 800BT 2. Hardware wise, the 800’s DLC is wireless, the 600 cabled. The 800 has twice the space (ROM) at 64g versus 32. The 600 will run out of ROM if you try to install all vehicle brands and models. But that shouldn’t be an issue for home use. Physically, the 800 has a nice hand grip on its left side. And although the 800’s screen is an inch larger than the 600’s, the overall width and height of both are the same.
My opinion, for home use, I don’t feel the 800BT 2 is overkill. Especially with the complexity of today’s vehicles. I think having bi-directional control and being able to scan all systems and modules is important. Yeah, it comes at a cost, but worth it.
