In the ever changing world dealer tools are become more necessary for the modern workshop.
One in particular is the JLR platform, utilising Topix Cloud for post 2017 (Doip) vehicles there are not many interfaces to choose from as J2534 doesnt really apply to DOIP but it should! Previously your options was the official Bosch VCI and 2 offerings from Diagnostic Associates. All very expensive options.
Recently with the release of PDU drivers for JLR to the Rlink J2534 this enables the device to be used with Topix Cloud
So today the dealer tool was needed, I left my Bosch VCI in the van and grabbed the R Link curious to see if it could live upto to its expectations. The PDU driver was installed, Rlink mode selected and proceeded to open DDA the client for Topix Cloud, after being prompted to login, DDA found the interface and connected, extracted the VIN and we was in, using Topix Cloud with the Rlink J2534,
I was amazed, as a platform so restricted for usable VCIs there is now low cost trusted and reliable solution!
